How to check a wig supplier before a first order

A first order is where a supplier relationship is decided, and most of the checks cost nothing but a written question. Here is the short list we would want answered before we placed one.

Ask for the specification in writing, before the price

Hair type, cuticle direction, construction, lace size, length, weight and colour code. Ask for those rows in writing before anyone quotes a number. A supplier who will not put a specification down has not quoted a product yet.

Order one piece before you order the line

A single piece is the cheapest test there is. Ours is quoted at the lowest listed price for that model, with the freight at your cost, so checking a supplier costs you the freight rather than the order. Judge the hair, the colour and the construction in the hand, not from a photograph.

Confirm the minimum, per model

A minimum that applies per model splits a first budget differently from one that applies per order. Ours is 3 pieces per model. Ask your supplier to state theirs the same way, because “3 pieces” can mean either.

Pin down the lead time, and what starts it

Ask how long production takes, how long transit takes after dispatch, and what starts each clock — the order or the payment. Ours is about 2 weeks in production, longer for custom colour or curl, and 10 to 12 business days to the US after dispatch.

Agree what happens when something is wrong

Decide in advance how a mismatch or a fault is reported, within what window, and what the remedy is, and get it in writing while both sides are still being reasonable. We confirm the specification in writing before we quote, so there is always a reference to compare against.

Questions buyers ask

How do I check that a colour will repeat?

Ask how your colour code is recorded between orders. Colour codes only help if they mean the same thing next time, so ask the supplier to show you the record, not the intention.

Should I ask for references or a site visit?

You can, but a sample tells you more. One piece checked against a written specification is a harder test than a reference, and it is available to every buyer regardless of size.

How fast should a supplier reply?

Enough that you can work with them. We answer inquiries within 12 hours, in English, by email or WhatsApp.

Start with one piece

Send the model you are considering and we will return the specification in writing; a single piece can then be ordered as a sample.
