Sourcing medical wigs for your clients

A checklist for clinics, hair-loss studios and salons that fit wigs for people in treatment: construction, documentation and continuity, and what to confirm before the first order.

What "medical grade" does and does not mean

It is not a regulated term and no body certifies a wig as medical grade. What it describes in practice is a cap construction plus a set of documentation practices. Ask any supplier to state, in writing, which construction they are quoting and what they can put on the order itself.

Construction: what to ask

A hand-tied cap gives the softer hairline and is usually the choice when a client wears the piece all day. Machine-back is the more economical construction. Both can use the same hair. Ask which one is being quoted, whether the lace is a full front or a partial, and what cap sizes are available.

The paperwork a client may be asked for

Where a client is claiming reimbursement, the paperwork normally comes from their own provider rather than from us: a prescription or letter, plus an invoice that describes the product precisely. We issue an invoice naming model, hair type, length, colour and construction so it can be submitted as it stands. We do not advise on coverage.

Continuity matters more than the first order

Someone in treatment needs the same colour and construction to still be available months later. Ask how a shade is matched across batches, what the minimum is for a repeat order, and how long a run takes. Our minimum is 3 pieces per model, and we confirm the specification in writing before we quote.

Start with a single piece

Hair and construction are unreliable to judge from a photograph. One piece can be ordered as a sample, quoted at the lowest listed price for that model, with the freight at your cost.

Questions we are asked

Do you certify wigs as medical?

No. Medical grade is not a certification and we do not claim one. We describe the construction and the hair, and put the specification in writing so you can judge it yourself.

Can you invoice for reimbursement?

We issue a detailed invoice naming model, hair type, length, colour and construction. Whether it is accepted is decided by the client's provider or insurer, and we do not advise on that.

Can we order a single piece first?

Yes. One piece as a sample, at the lowest listed price for that model, with the freight at your cost. Wholesale orders start at 3 pieces per model.
