Wig cap construction: which build suits your retail buyers
Cap construction decides how the hairline reads, how the wig wears over a full day and what it costs. There are three builds in our range - seamless lace, hand-tied and machine-back - and the right one depends on who wears it, not on which is the most expensive.
The three builds, in plain terms
A seamless lace front sets a fine mesh across the hairline, so the hair appears to grow from the scalp and the parting can be moved across that front section. A hand-tied cap ties hair into the cap by hand across the crown, letting the hair fall in any direction. A machine-back cap is sewn by machine at the back and sides, which is faster to make and costs less.
What each build suits
Seamless lace suits a customer who styles the hair away from the face or needs a convincing hairline in daylight. Hand-tied suits a wearer who wants the crown to look unconstructed, and it is the build we make for all-day medical wear. Machine-back suits volume at a lower price, and it is the right answer when the crown is never seen.
Lace size is part of the construction
The lace front in our seamless lace line measures 4*5*8.5. That size tells you how far the mesh extends and therefore how much the parting can move, so it belongs on the quotation next to the construction rather than left assumed.
What the build does to cost and lead time
Hand work is the cost. The more of the cap that is tied by hand, the more hours it takes and the longer the run. That is why the same length and colour can differ in price between two builds, and why the construction belongs on the quotation next to the price.
Specify it in one line
Name the construction, the lace size, the length, the colour code and the weight, and ask for all five back in writing. A sample in the hand is the fastest way to judge a build, so one piece - quoted at the lowest listed price for that model, freight at your cost - is worth more than any description.
Questions we are asked
Is hand-tied always the better choice?
No. It costs more and takes longer to make, and it earns that cost when the crown is visible or the wig is worn all day. When the crown is never seen, a machine-back cap does the same job for less.
Which build do you make for medical wear?
Hand-tied is the build we make for all-day medical wear, alongside the machine-back caps in the same line. Both use the same hair type and share the same colour codes.
Can I compare builds before ordering quantity?
Yes. One piece can be ordered as a sample, quoted at the lowest listed price for that model, with the freight at your cost. Wholesale orders then start at 3 pieces per model.
