How to photograph wigs for a wholesale catalogue

A wholesale catalogue photo has one job: show the buyer what will arrive. That means an honest shot of one piece, labelled with the length and colour it actually is, rather than a styled image that flatters the product.

One piece, honestly labelled

Photograph one representative piece per colour, and state which length and colour it is. On this catalogue each product page names its photo length and colour for exactly that reason — the photos show one length, and the order can be another.

Light, background and layout

Daylight, or a soft even light, shows the true colour; hard light flatters and lies. A plain neutral background keeps the eye on the hair, and a straight-on shot plus one of the hairline tells a buyer more than a dozen styled angles.

Show the parts buyers cannot see

A wholesale buyer needs the inside and the hairline, not just the top. For medical caps, photograph the construction itself: the photos on this site show the internal cap structure, because the cap is what a buyer is buying, not a colour.

Keep the file honest

Do not retouch the colour or stretch the length. A photo that is accurate costs you nothing and saves a claim later; the customer you want is the one who receives what the picture showed.

A short shot list

One full-length shot, one of the front hairline, one of the inside cap, and one of the colour in daylight, per piece. Keep the order the same across the catalogue so two products can be compared at a glance.

What length should the photos show?

One length, labelled. Each product page here names the photo length, and the order length can be any tier the supplier offers.

Do you have photos of other colours?
